Academic Standards / Grade Requirements : Grades of “ C +” or higher ( C is not acceptable ) are required in all nursing courses . For advancement to the sophomore year , a 2.0 cumulative average is required . A
student may achieve less than a “ C +” (“ C ” is not acceptable ) in only one nursing course . A student may repeat the course once and cannot progress in the sequential nursing clinical courses
until its successful completion with a “ C +” or higher grade . Students may be part-time while repeating the course . The student will be placed on nursing academic probation after receiving one nursing course failure . If a student achieves less than a “ C +” grade ( “ C ” is not acceptable ) in any two nursing courses , they will be dismissed from the program . Acceptable Academic Achievement in Support Courses in Nursing : Grades of “ C ” or higher (“ C minus ” ( C- ) is not acceptable ) are required in Mathematics , MTH103 Anatomy and Physiology I and II , Lecture and Laboratory ; BIO 107 / L and BIO 108 / L , Nutrition 200 , Microbiology for Health Services ; BIO 121 Chemistry for Health Professions , CHM111 / L , General Psychology , PSY 100 , Developmental Psychology , PSY 200 , or Human Development for Nursing , PSY 202 , and Statistics , PSY 111
❖ A student who earns less than a “ C ” in Anatomy and Physiology I lecture may advance and take Anatomy and Physiology II . However , Anatomy and Physiology I must be repeated and a grade of “ C ” or higher must be earned . Students who withdraw from Chemistry 111 lecture need to withdraw from Chemistry III lab as well . However , students who withdraw from the Chemistry 111 lab portion of chemistry , may remain in the lecture section of Chemistry 111 .
Grades of “ C ” or higher in both lecture and laboratory sciences , math , nutrition , and psychology courses must be earned before the student can advance to their junior level nursing courses .

Academic Progress , Probation , and Program Dismissal : BSN , ABSN , & WBSN : The student will be placed on academic probation after receiving one nursing course failure . Experiential Learning : Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off campus experiential learning opportunities .
Non-Academic Criteria for Admission , Progression and Retention
The Professional Nursing Law permits the State Board of Nursing to consider the “ moral character of any license candidate ”. The applicant who is applying to the nursing program should be aware that the State Board of Nursing will not issue a license or certificate to an applicant who has been convicted of any felonious act . Continued matriculation in nursing courses is conditional pending receipt and evaluation of a PA Criminal Record Check to determine if there is any conviction which may bar the student from the nursing program .
