first year will complete required clinical clearances to progress to Nursing curriculum . Students may not repeat a science or math course more than once . Students who earn a cumulative GPA of 2.8-2.999 and all A ’ s and B ’ s in math / science courses in their first year will be required to take the TEAS ( Test of Essential Academic Skills ) prior to starting any nursing courses . For those students , a minimum score of 62 % on the TEAS is required to progress in the BSN program .
Transfer Students can earn a BSN degree in 3 years if they meet eligibility requirements by transferring 32- 45 transferable credits . Summer transfer students can earn their BSN in 2 ½ years through transferring 45 transferable credits .
Any transfer applicant to the nursing program who has had science courses that are seven ( 7 ) years or older prior to beginning the nursing courses , must repeat these courses . These include Anatomy and Physiology I and II , Microbiology , and Chemistry . All required science courses must have a “ hands on ” lab experience . Virtual labs for required sciences are not transferrable . Transfer students are required to take Chemistry 111 and its associated lab at Gwynedd Mercy University . Chemistry courses taken outside of Gwynedd Mercy University will be evaluated by the Registrar on a case-by-cases basis .
A student who withdrew from Gwynedd Mercy University ’ s nursing program in good standing and wishes to resume , must REPEAT ALL NURSING COURSES if the lapse of time has been two ( 2 ) or more years .
Program Admission Requirements and Procedures for Students Applying for the ABSN and BSN WEEKEND ( WBSN ) Program Options : The ABSN and Weekend BSN programs have separate criteria for admission . Admission decisions for these programs are made by the program director , coordinators , and the dean after a detailed review with the admissions coordinator . Prospective students must have a college degree outside of nursing ; an earned GPA or 3.0 on a 4-point scale ; and grades of B or above in science courses . All science prerequisite courses must have been completed within the previous 7 years and psychology and statistics within the last 10 years .
The following criteria and prerequisite courses are required to be considered for ABSN and Weekend BSN
admission .
• Anatomy & Physiology I + Lab
• Anatomy & Physiology II + Lab
• Microbiology + Lab
• General Chemistry II + Lab or Gwynedd Mercy University ’ s Chemistry 111 +
• Lab
• Principles of Nutrition ( taught by a Registered Dietician )
• Statistics
• Developmental Psychology ( must cover across the lifespan )
Internal / External Transfers
For Students Transferring to the BSN Program from Other Nursing Programs Students applying to this BSN program who may have taken foundational nursing courses at another institution , may be able to transfer some courses to facilitate movement into the Gwynedd Mercy University Nursing Program . The student may be asked to challenge the Gwynedd Mercy University course content through examination to validate if he / she has the comparable course content . All nursing courses from another nursing program will be evaluated on an individual basis . Admission procedures as stated previously apply for these students . A minimum earned 3.0 GPA is required for admission .
