Gwynedd Mercy University
AY2023-2024 Undergraduate Academic Catalog
Academic Progress , Probation , and Program Dismissal
Audited Credits Students in Integrated Studies will audit Gwynedd Mercy University courses . Collaboration will occur
between the student , Integrated Studies staff and the professor of the class to establish modifications to the expectations of the course and to establish course objectives according to student accommodations . Students may receive the support of a peer mentor in audited courses . Auditing students earning an A through D- equivalent ( considering modified course work ) will earn an AU-P on their transcript , demonstrating successful audit completion of a course . If an auditing Integrated Student earns an F in a course , their transcript will reflect an AU-F . Any course that a student earns an AU-F will not count toward the required graduation credits for the non-degree certificate of Integrated Studies . If it is a required pre-requisite or required core course , it will need to be repeated .
Credits Students in Integrated Studies may enroll in up to 24 credits for credit ( maximum of 9 credits for credit per semester ) while still in the Integrated Studies program . Students may apply to transfer to a degree-seeking program after successful completion of one semester taking 9 credits for credit . Students may not receive the support of a peer mentor while enrolled in a course for credit . Course materials may not be modified if a student is enrolled in a course for credit .
Academic Probation and Dismissal If a student earns below a 1.8 GPA in their courses for credit , they will be placed on academic probation for one semester . If they earn below a 1.8 GPA in a sequential semester , rather than being academically dismissed , they will complete their future classes for audit for one year before attempting classes for credit again .
If a student earns one AU-F , they will be placed on academic probation for one semester . If they earn another AU-F in the following semester , they will be academically dismissed from Integrated Studies . If a student earns an AU-F in two courses in one semester , they will be immediately academically dismissed from Integrated Studies .
The student on academic dismissal will not be able to receive programmatic support from Integrated Studies ( mentors , advising , modifications in audited classes etc .) for one year . Dismissed students who wish to re-enter must apply for readmission to Integrated Studies . Program dismissal may also be considered based on non-academic program components , such as excessive absences from required program components ( internships , goal-setting meetings , and mentor sessions ) or related to noncompliance with the university ’ s policies ( such as that related to college appropriate behavior , violence , aggression , safety compliance etc .)
Satisfactory Academic Progress Satisfactory Academic Progress will be assessed at the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters and is determined by earning an AU-P or above a 1.8 GPA for credits completed within 67 % of their credit hours . Please see undergraduate SAP policy for additional information on financial aid implications of not making Satisfactory Academic Progress .
