Program Description : The Digital Communication program is designed for students interested in professional roles in content creation , production , social media , marketing and more . Rooted in strategic business decision-making , courses guide students in the development of technology-oriented communication skills . Portfolio-building assignments and industry-recognized certifications are at the core of the Digital Communication program and prepares students for professional life .
Digital Communication majors are eligible to apply for the MBA4 + 1 program . Students should meet with their advisor in their junior year to apply to the 4 + 1 program .
Program Student Learning Outcomes : PLO1 : Gather and analyze information from a variety of relevant , credible sources ; PLO2 : Produce targeted , audience specific content that aligns with storytelling techniques ; PLO3 : Demonstrate technical competency across digital and social media ; PLO4 : Identify and analyze socially responsible , Mercy-focused and business-oriented practices ; PLO5 : Identify digital media practices and implications in domestic and global business and social settings
Experiential Learning : Students are required to engage in an internship , which allows students to put theory into practice , observe professionals engaging their field of study , practice their skills under the supervision of seasoned professionals , network within their chosen field and gain valuable experience . Students should consult with their academic advisor before they plan to register for the internship . Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off campus experiential learning opportunities .
