A culminating course for students in the Radiologic Technologic Program designed to prepare students for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT ) examination in Radiography . Preparation for this examination is a crucial part of the Radiologic Technology program . Review of all sections of the examination will be reviewed utilizing learning aids from all previously taught courses in the professional curriculum as well as Radiography Prep workbooks and other preparatory learning tools . Students enrolled in this capstone course will discuss professional development and lifelong learning as it relates to healthcare . Research , image analysis and review of case studies will also be discussed .

This course will provide the student with the ability to perform spine , skull and facial bones studies in the clinical setting . Anatomy and positioning of the spine , skull and facial bones will be presented . In addition , instruction will be given about pediatrics , trauma and mobile exams . The student will be assessed as to competency on performance of the procedures in the laboratory setting ..
Principles of radiation biology , including the interaction of radiation with living tissue and the methods used to protect the patient , radiographer and others are the major topics covered within this course . Radiation effects on molecules , cells , tissues and the body as a whole are presented . Factors affecting biological response are discussed , including acute and chronic effects of radiation . An overview of protection is presented . Radiation health and safety requirements of federal and state regulatory agencies , accreditation agencies and health care organizations are incorporated .
This course is designed to provide radiography students with principles related to Computed Tomography ( CT ) imaging and sectional anatomy . This course is designed so that the student may begin critical analysis of image quality based upon theories learned and practice under direct supervision .
