Description : As a radiation therapist , you will work directly with patients , radiation oncologists and radiation physicists using advanced equipment to administer high energy x-rays , radioactive materials , and other sources of ionizing radiation to treat cancer . Preparation for Professional Licensure Registry / Licensure : Upon successful completion of the Program , the graduate is eligible to apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT ) examination in radiation therapy . Instructions to complete the online application will be provided by the Program Director at the appropriate time . Students are to return their completed Program Competency list to the Program Director for signature . All program competencies must be satisfactorily completed and verified by the Program Director . Students must complete all competencies in order to be eligible to submit their online application to the ARRT . The ARRT will review all applications and approve eligibility to take the examination . Applicants must be in good standing and in compliance with the ARRT Standard of Ethics and Rules and Regulations . Any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor , should contact the ARRT prior to application and have their case reviewed . The ARRT reserves the right to refuse eligibility to any applicant whom they find not in compliance with the Rules and Regulations and Standards of Ethics .

Program Student Learning Outcomes : At the completion of the radiation therapy program , the graduates will demonstrate : PLO1 Empathic patient centered care ; PLO2 Application of appropriate radiation safety principles ; PLO3 Accuracy in performing radiation therapy procedures ; PLO4 Effective oral and written communication skills ; PLO5 Appropriate response to events in clinical and lab situations ; PLO6 Appropriate professional behaviors .

The program will follow the most recent radiation therapy curriculum published by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists ( ASRT ). Additionally , the most recent American Registry of Registered Radiographers ( ARRT ) guidelines are integrated into the curriculum . A full description of each program with the required academic courses , and the courses of the concentration of study are available in the University catalog , as well as a sample curriculum sheet for both the Bachelor of Science and the Bachelor of Health Science degree .

Program Admissions Requirements and Procedures : Gwynedd Mercy University and the Radiation Therapy Bachelor of Science degree programs are open to all individuals of any race , color , religion , gender , age , disability , national origin , and any other protected class . The program has a rolling admission policy and admission decisions are based on academic performance , experience , and achievement of the applicant . Completed applications are reviewed on a first come , first serve basis . Admission to the program is limited due to clinical placement .
