Program Description : The Biology program at Gwynedd Mercy University is an integrated course of study with a strong emphasis on molecular and cellular biology , genetics , and biochemistry . GMercyU ’ s biology students gain a broad foundation in the physical sciences , with required coursework in chemistry , physics , and mathematics . Students who graduate from the program automatically earn a minor in chemistry with their degree . The program provides training in modern laboratory skills , utilizing current technology that is applicable to research in a graduate program and in demand by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies . All students in the biology program must complete a research experience , providing practical , hands-on experiential training that is critical for future employment or graduate study .
Graduates from the biology program possess the knowledge and skills to succeed in graduate or professional school or in employment in a variety of fields and our students are employed or in a graduate program within a year of graduation .
