All clinical course requirements must be completed and submitted by the specified deadline , via Trajecsys . Failure to do so will result in a decrease in final course grade . Students must complete all clinical course work prior to the start of next semester . Students not in compliance will be dismissed from the program .
Didactic Education There are NO excused absences from RTS courses . In cases of emergency or illness , the student is to notify Mrs . Rose Troutman , Program Director by calling 267-448-1429 or e-mail her at
troutman . r @ gmercyu . edu or Clinical Coordinator , Ms . Lorraine Quarles , at 215-448- 1451 or
quarles . l @ gmercyu . edu as well as the instructor for the class , no later than 8:00 a . m . Excessive absences from class will result in counseling for the student and a decrease in the student ’ s final grade .
Excessive absenteeism will result in the student being placed on probation and will have a grade reduction for the specific course in which the absences occur . No improvement in attendance will result in dismissal from the program . ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL CONCENTRATION COURSES .
Tardiness Clinical Education Tardiness is defined as not being at the assigned area and prepared for clinical assignment at the designated starting time . Students will be counseled regarding lateness ; additionally , students who are late more than 2 times during a clinical rotation will be counseled and placed on probation . Continued failure to modify this behavior will result in the student receiving a decrease of one grade on final course grade or dismissal from the program if tardiness continues . Classroom Students are expected to participate in all the academic courses and program activities and are expected to be on time for all classes and labs . Once the class has started you are considered late . Entering the classroom after class has begun is disruptive not only for the students but the instructor as well . It is the student ' s responsibility to be on time for class . If a student is going to be late or sick , the student is expected to contact the Program Director and the Instructor of the course . Students are not to pass any message via fellow students . Habitual tardiness ( more than one ( 1 ) lateness in a five ( 5 ) week period ) will result in the decrease in the grade for the RTS course ( s ) in which the tardiness occurred . Students who are repeatedly late will be counseled and placed on probation . If there is no improvement in their punctuality , they will be dismissed from the program .
Academic Progress , Probation , and Program Dismissal : A student who fails two didactic courses in the major and / or co-requisite courses ( C- or below ) or one clinical course ( B- or below ) will be dismissed from the program .
ACADEMIC / CLINICAL PROBATION : All students are accepted on a probationary basis . To continue in the program , a student must achieve a minimum grade of " C " in all didactic courses and a “ B ” in all clinical education courses .
Clinical / Experiential Learning : Students are required to spend a minimum / maximum of sixteen ( 16 )/ thirty ( 30 ) hours in Clinical Education each week depending on their year of study . These hours may include conferences and chart rounds . No student is required to remain in the department for overtime hours ; however , students are encouraged to remain after normal working hours to complete procedures already in progress .
