Is Artificial Intelligence Really a Threat to Learning?

By: Valeria García Sánchez. 10-B
Today we live in a digital society. The rise of artificial intelligence has become a big step forward, but it also makes us ask an important question: what is its real impact on education?

Today ' s words

Actually, AI is not a threat to learning by itself. It is simply showing us the weaknesses of an education model that, for many years, confused“ learning” with“ repeating answers.” The real challenge is to ask ourselves: why do we let AI replace our own thinking?
When a student replaces critical thinking with an instant answer from AI, this shows a problem. It demonstrates that we need to question the purpose of our education system. Schools need to rethink how they prepare children and young people for the future. The goal of any education system and government should be to form complete leaders who can help to build a better society, not just to prepare people to find a job.
But maybe this question leads to a bigger one: what does it really mean to learn? Learning cannot simply mean“ having information” or“ giving the correct answer.” If that were true, AI would already be a better student than any human. It can find information, organize ideas, and create answers in seconds. But knowing an answer is not the same as understanding it. Education should not only teach us what to think, but also why we think that way, how to judge information, and what impact each idea has.
This difference matters a lot today, because information is no longer hard to find. In the past, education mainly gave students knowledge that was difficult to access. Today, a student can get an explanation about almost any topic in a few seconds. So the problem is no longer how to find information, but how to understand it, question it, and evaluate it. In this sense, AI does not make critical thinking useless, it makes it even more necessary.
There is also a deeper danger in giving our thinking to technology. If students always let a machine build their arguments, solve their problems, or express their ideas, they could slowly lose the habit of facing difficult questions. And that effort is not a bad part of learning, it is an essential part of it. Thinking takes time, uncertainty, mistakes, and sometimes frustration. If technology removes every difficulty, it could also remove the process that builds real intellectual independence.
Still, this does not mean students should reject AI. Refusing to use a technology just because it can be misused is like blaming the tool instead of the person using it. The real goal should be to teach students when to trust AI, when to question it, and when to think without it. A student should be able to look at an AI-generated answer and ask: Is this argument valid? What proof supports it? What is missing? Do I agree, and why?
For this reason, banning AI in schools is not the solution. Instead, we should turn these tools into ways to improve students learning. This means we also need to change education itself, not only training people to be useful for the job market, but giving them the intellectual tools to understand, question, and change society when it is unfair. Education needs a model that fits the technology of the new generations.
In conclusion, artificial intelligence should not be the enemy of teachers. Instead, it should be a call to rethink how we are preparing our society for the future and to teach students to use these tools responsibly, so that AI never ends up controlling the students themselves.

Protecting Honeybees

By: 🌻Maria Paula Archíla. 10-C
Bees need to be protected because their work in the environment is very important both for the ecosystems and for humans. Through pollination, they guarantee the reproduction of plants. They need to be protected even more because they are susceptible to different health problems caused by pesticides, ABPV, parasites, the destruction of their habitat, and many
other factors. These problems weaken bees and affect their ability to work and even survive.
That is why it is important to protect their habitat, avoid harmful pesticides, and preserve flowers and plants where they can find food. Protecting bees is essential because they play a very important role in many plants and crops will also be affected. Therefore, caring for bees means caring for nature and our future.
