Tops Of Ghent
Ross Montgomery secured victory in the Tops Of Ghent when
the tournament took place over the weekend of 19th and 20th
October.
Montgomery’s early round victories included a 4-0 victory over Dennie
Bos and a 4-1 victory over Kevin Blomme before the Scotland captain
went on to defeat Anthony Urmston-Toft 4-3 in the last 64.
He then went on to book a quarter final place with victories over Donie
Michels and Tony Martinez. The quarter finals saw Montgomery defeat
Gary Thompson 5-3, before a two sets to nil victory over Stefan Deprez
in the semi-finals saw him safely through to the final.
The final proved to be a close affair between Montgomery and his
opponent Rick Hofstra of the Netherlands, with the Scotsman eventually
emerging with a 3 sets to 2 victory.
In the ladies event Anastasia Dobromyslova defeated Aileen de Graaf
2-0 in sets, whilst Mike de Decker won the boys singles and Shauni
Wastijn claimed victory in the girls singles
