The action from Killarney continued on Sunday 20th of October Quarter-Finals
and this time it was the turn of Kim Huybrechts to secure a
victory. The Belgian defeated Kevin Painter 6-0 in a one-sided K Huybrechts 6-1 Darren Webster
final, but it was not all plain sailing.
Steve Beaton 6-4 Gary Anderson
Huybrechts began his run to the final with a trio of 6-2 victories, over
Robert Kelly, Marty Moreland and former World Champion Mark Webster
as he reached the last 16.
He then went on to defeat Daryl Gurney 6-4, in his closest match of the
day, and Darren Webster 6-1 to book his spot in the semi-finals.
The semi-finals saw the Belgian ace land a 158 checkout on his way to
a 6-2 victory over former World Champion Steve Beaton.
Huybrechts got off to a flyer in the final, claiming the opening leg,
before a 170 checkout saw him take an early 2-0 lead. He did not relent
and moved 4-0 up in double quick time.
The victory was completed after a pair of 14-dart legs saw him claim a
6-0 win and the £10,000 winners prize to boot.
