Adrian Lewis was favourite to top Group C before
the tournament started and he got off to a great
start, claiming a 5-2 win over Lakeside semi-finalist
Richie George to move into first place in the group.
In the group’s other opening night encounter Ronny
Huybrechts edged out former Lakeside Champion
Christian Kist 5-3 to join Lewis on one victory.
Huybrechts set up a clash with brother Kim in the last
sixteen thanks to a 5-2 victory over Richie George.
“I’m really happy and I didn’t expect to win all three
games, and to finish top in a group which includes
two World Champions is very nice,” said Ronny.
“It was hard to concentrate for the last game

Huybrechts then progressed to the last sixteen with
a shock 5-3 victory over Adrian Lewis, putting Lewis
under pressure as he moved into his final group game
against Christian Kist.
Kist kept his hopes alive by defeating Richie George
5-2, in the process setting up a winner takes all
encounter with Adrian Lewis in their final group
game.

The double World Champion overcame the former
Lakeside Champion 5-3 in a match that was closer
than the Stoke-based Lewis would have liked.
