Gary Anderson opened his campaign with a 5-1
victory over Lakeside semi-finalist Wesley Harms to
move into pole position in the tough looking Group
B.
Anderson was joined in winning on the opening night
by James Wade as the seven-time major winner
produced a dazzling display of darts to defeat an in
form Peter Wright 5-2.
Peter Wright got his campaign back on track with
a 5-2 victory over Wesley Harms, eliminating the
Dutchman and setting up a winner takes all encounter
with fellow Scotsman Gary Anderson in the pairs final
group encounter.
Wade then claimed a 5-2 victory over Wesley Harms
in the final round of group matches to top the group

James Wade booked his place in the last sixteen with
a 5-3 victory over Gary Anderson, leaving Anderson
facing the prospect of needing to defeat an in-form
Peter Wright in the final group game to make his way
through.
and set up a second round clash with Group A runnerup Paul Nicholson.
Gary Anderson produced his best display yet,
defeating Peter Wright 5-1 to set up a mouthwatering clash with Phil Taylor in the second round.
“It’s been a while since I beat Peter so I went up on
stage to relax and enjoy myself and I’m really happy
to get through,” said Anderson.
“I’ve been inconsistent so far this week. I played
lovely like that on Saturday and then on Sunday it
was atrocious, so hopefully I can keep this up - and
I’ll have to against Phil because he’s been brilliant in
the last few months.”
