Kim Huybrechts booked the final spot in the
Championship League Darts winners group when the
players returned to Crondon Park on 23rd October.
The Belgian ace finished fourth in the league phase,
edging out Gary Anderson on legs difference, before
defeating Paul Nicholson 6-3 in the semi-finals. He
then found himself 4-0 down to Peter Wright in the
early stages of the final, before a run of six straight
legs saw him through to the winners group.
This left a winners group consisting of Huybrechts,
Phil Taylor, Richie Burnett, Andy Hamilton, Wes
Newton, Terry Jenkins, Michael van Gerwen and Ian
White.

Phil Taylor secured a third consecutive Championship
League Darts title with a 6-3 victory over Michael
van Gerwen in the final of the winners group.
Taylor was impressive throughout the day, topping
the league phase with six wins from seven games
before a 6-1 victory over Wes Newton in the semifinals set up a final with van Gerwen.
Taylor was 5-0 up in the final, and in the end had
to hold off a comeback from Dutch ace van Gerwen
who claimed three straight legs to close the gap to
5-3, before Taylor sealed victory in the ninth leg.
“I’m delighted to win this title again,” said Taylor.
“It was a tough final and Michael’s a tough opponent
and even when I was 5-0 up I knew that he could
come back to five-each. Michael showed what a
great player he is by coming back, and I knew I had
to kill him off.”
