Premier League: Week 1
The Echo Arena in Liverpool was the venue for this year’s
opening Premier League action on 6th February and it didn’t
take long for the competition to get into full swing.

There were big wins for Dave Chisnall and Raymond van
Barneveld as well as a debut win for Peter Wright, whilst the
biggest shock of the night came as World Champion Michael
van Gerwen took on Phil Taylor in a clash that is set to be
repeated time and again throughout the 2014 season.
Dave Chisnall 7-5 Robert Thornton
Debutant Chisnall got his campaign off to the best possible start when
he picked up his first televised victory since October.
The St Helens thrower defied an early 180 from Thornton to take the
opening leg with a 64 checkout, but soon found himself in a match as
Thornton took the second leg with a 96 out of his own.
The pair shared the next two legs, before a first break of the match saw
Thornton leading for the first time. The lead was short lived however
as Chisnall capitalised on two Thornton misses in the sixth leg to level
up once more.
The next four legs went with throw, and at 5-5 the match looked to be
