I’ve not been playing my best darts but I’ve got to battle and try to get as many points as I can because you’re playing the best players in the world every week.” “Last year’s Premier League was a great experience for me and I was so grateful to be given a second chance. To play in venues like this every week is tremendous and I’m giving it my all.” Dave Chisnall 6-6 Peter Wright Debutants Dave Chisnall and Peter Wright find themselves in the playoff spots, albeit it an early stage in proceedings, after they played out a six all draw in Bournemouth. Wright started by far the brighter of the pair and after opening up with a break of throw he soon found himself 3-1 to the good. When a second break and comfortable hold from the World Championship finalist saw him leading 5-1 it looked as though the match was all but over. Chisall had other ideas however, and the St Helens thrower landed three 180s on his way to taking the next three legs. Now trailing by only one Chizzy must have been thinking about the victory, but a calm Wright secured a point in the tenth leg, only for his opponent to dig in and claim what was in truth a fair draw. Both players remain unbeaten in their debut seasons and things are looking good for the pair as they aim to initially avoid relegation. “At 5-1 down I just told myself to relax and throw my darts because I wasn’t really expecting to get back into the game, but this showed that things can change very quickly and that you’ve got to hang in there,” admitted Chisnall. “When Peter got the leg to go 6-4 I thought the game might have gone at the end, but I managed to cling on and that could be a big point for me.” Gary Anderson 7-2 Simon Whitlock Anderson had been unlucky to run into an in form Barneveld during week one and had played well in defeat, indeed the Scotsman carried on his good form as he claimed his first points of 2014 with a Photo: PDC/Lawrence Lustig “It’s a massive relief to get the win” Wes Newton
