Premier League: Week 2 The Betway Premier League headed to Bournemouth, the smallest venue on the 2014 calendar, for a second week of action on Thursday 13th February and there was trouble once again for Phil Taylor who fell victim to an in form Adrian Lewis. Meanwhile Michael van Gerwen continued his excellent form as he moved level with Lewis at the top of the table and Taylor was joined at the bottom by Simon Whitlock who was lacklustre for a second week in succession. Debutants Peter Wright and Dave Chisnall remained undefeated, while Wes Newton picked up his first points of the campaign with a highly creditable victory over Raymond van Barneveld. Wes Newton 7-5 Raymond van Barneveld Barneveld failed to produce the early form that he had shown in week one against Gary Anderson and Newton capitalised as the pair traded leg after leg to head off at the break level at 3-3. Barney returned the stronger of the two, taking the first two legs on the players return, but the revitalised Dutchman could not maintain his form and Newton began to comeback by taking the ninth leg against the throw, before a hold of throw saw him level the match once more at 5-5. All of the momentum was now with the Fleetwood flinger and he broke throw again in the eleventh, before holding on in a tense twelfth to “It’s a great start for me and I want to stay where I am and keep on winning, so I’ll move on now and look forward to next week” Adrian Lewis
