Better Connected, More Knowledgeable and Confident Coaches Facilitating Coach-to-Coach Online Learning 28 ConnectedCoaches is an online community where 8,000 coaches per month, from all sports and activities, come together to get advice, share coaching practice and connect with like-minded peers. Simon’s Story ConnectedCoaches Content Champion Simon Browning has benefited from being a member of the community, often using the platform to pose questions on topics and gather the thoughts of other coaches. “It is reassuring in the sense that coaching can sometimes feel isolating but to see that others around the country are experiencing the same issues and are willing to talk about it can be a great help.” In addition to this, Simon believes being able to blog on the forum is an invaluable way to collect his thoughts, share his experiences and reflect on his practice. “The opportunity to share my experiences of developing a new women’s American football team afforded me the chance to reflect deeper on what I was doing and why. The act of laying out my thought processes for my peers to view and comment upon made me view my coaching practice in a completely new way. What I learned from the process, I took into the team and thus, we’ve developed a set of players who are critical thinkers that make clear in game decisions.” ConnectedCoaches Content Champion, Simon Browning Looking to the future, Simon is about to start coaching a youth football team and says that as he branches out into something new he will continue to draw on the expertise and knowledge shared on ConnectedCoaches.
