MY MOST MEMORABLE CIGARS By Dean Pullen UK Cigar Forums owner and passionate cigar man. But being a reticent Java developer it’s very hard to get Dean to say much more about himself. Luckily he did wax lyrical about his love of cigars. Cigar One: Punch Double Corona Cigar Two: Cohiba BHK52 Where & When? Parque Central Hotel roof top bar, Havana. Evening time, with a mojito. Where & when? Goring Hotel London - Hunters & Frankau Summer Party (Behike launch May 2009) Why was it memorable? Sitting on the top of one of the finest Havana hotels, I pulled out a recently purchased Cuban cigar from the hotel cigar shop - bought on a whim. This was my first cuban cigar ever, and was more a curiosity than any other urge. The vitola was almost certainly far too large for a beginner but the relaxing vibe hit home. It was lit while a three-piece Cuban band played and the sun set over the El Capitolio - it was a truly memorable occasion and kicked off my passion that hasn’t waned since. Why was it memorable? The Behike launch party at the London Goring hotel was one of the best held by Hunters and Frankau and as you’d expect from the Cohiba Behike line; some fine cigars were smoked on the night. I smoked the Behike 52 from the off, after some fine canapés and Krug champagne. Coupled with the great drink, food and company, my palette was perfect and the cigar was as memorable as the night was - the 52 is a stunning example of the range and has been a consistent ‘luxury’ purchase of mine ever since. 26
