UK Cigar stores have a proud heritage of aging cigars for their customers so that they can enjoy the
subtle and refined pleasures of an aged cigar.
In this monthly feature we will ask a cigar specialist, either a store or a cigar terrace, to tell us about two
of the rare, aged cigars which they have available.
A fine Scotsman standing outside the Cigar and Snuff Parlour marks this small traditional store tucked
away in the south eastern corner of Old Covent Garden Market. It is one of London’s few remaining
independent specialist tobacconists and a Gold stockist of Havana cigars
Robert Good Manager describes his store and the
two cigars he has selected.
“We have a very limited space here for aging cigars but when you asked me I was just
looking out two fine cigars which I had put away for two completely different reasons.
It was the perfect time to ask because I believe both are just coming into their own”.

“We currently have boxes of these Havana classics
from 2001 and 2003. At the time I put them away
there were supply issues and I wanted continuity
for our customers so I laid down some stock.
Needless to say as soon as I did there was no issue
with supply, so I just left the older stock to age. It’s
been a while since I smoked one but the age on
these is perfect and we will have them in the store
next week.”

“You have to consider that 2001 was only the
second year that Habanos had produced the EL
(Edicion Limitadas). When these first arrived I
thought they had great aging potential so I laid
down a number of boxes. Not the best looking
cigar they are really smoking beautifully now
with, what I can only describe as a creamy velvety
texture in the second half. I also think they still
have some room to improve further”.
