Extension of the Range
Today the Cohiba range includes nineteen cigars
which are subdivided into four different ‘Lineas’
or lines.
The first was the Linea Classica. This range
takes the initial three vitolas which were first
presented in 1982. The range was extended to six
in early 1989. The strength of the Linea Classica is
described as medium to full.
The Linea 1492 (Siglo) range with an initial five
sizes of cigar was launched in 1992 to mark the
500th Anniversary of Columbus’s first landing in
Cuba. The cigars became generally available early
in 1994. The strength of the Linea 1492 is described
as medium.
In 2002 Cohiba was the first brand to create a
Reserva with tobacco aged a minimum of three
years). The Siglo VI was also added to the Linea
1492 in 2002.
In 2006 to mark the fortieth anniversary of the
creation of the brand 100 humidors were created
each containing 40 cigars of a new Cohiba bearing
the name ‘Behike’
The Linea Maduro 5 range which consists of
three vitolas each with a dark Maduro wrapper
which has been aged for a minimum of 5 years
was launched in 2007. The strength of the Linea
Maduro 5 is described as medium to full.
In 2009 Cohiba was the first brand to create a Gran
Reserva with tobacco aged for a minimum of five
years.
The Linea Behike range was launched in 2010.
With three sizes the Behike is the most exclusive
Cohiba and it is unique because its blend
includes the rare medio tiempo leaf which brings
additional richness and flavour. The strength of
the Linea Behike is described as full.
The Cohiba Piramides extra was added to the
Linea Classica in 2012
So as the Cigar World prepares to head to Havana
