Ara Cho My name is Ara, and I was born in Korea. I have attended Utahloy for 4years, and recently, I completed the Personal Project, which is a culminating event of the Middle Years Program of the International Baccalaureate. From my Personal Project, I have gained awareness about Africa’s food crisis. The reason I chose this topic is because I thought it was really important to think in the position people who live in an opposite lifestyle. Throughout the Personal Project, I learnt to use my time more efficiently, and to be more organized with my work. I also learnt different research methods to finish my project successfully. To develop as IB learners through the Personal Project, I have been an inquirer by nurturing curiosity for inquiring and researching independently and dependently. I have also been caring, by showing empathy to act to make a positive influence for other people around the world. I now feel more confident in doing the Extended Essay next year. Miyuki Otake My name is Miyuki Otake in grade 10G and I came from Japan. My product for the personal project is a book, which creates cultures tea made around the world. My choice of the project influenced by Chinese traditional culture. I live in Guangzhou (China) with my Chinese relatives who drink a plenty of tea in daily life. I saw my Chinese family always drink different diversity of tea and that makes me a curiosity about tea cultures. Also my family teach me “taking liquid is important to keep healthy body”. This project is an opportunity to tell people how necessary is it. Based on these reasons, I chosen this topic in my personal project. As a result, I got knowledge about tea and know how to do an individual work after the project. It experience will be a good supporter when I have a job in the future. Di (Leo) Liu I am Leo Liu and a 15 year old student from China. I have been studying at Utahloy International School of Guangzhou for 2 years now. I am interested in Chinese culture and its traditions. My personal project is going to introduce a typical Chinese culture — drinking tea.I used my research to gain knowledge about the traditions of tea drinking and tea growing as well as its cultivation.
