English Language Requirements
Students whose native language is not English must generally demonstrate their proficiency by achieving a score in a test such as Academic IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson (PTE Academic) (see table below). Other English language tests may also be accepted as proof of English language proficiency. Students who have successfully completed two years of full-time study in which the language of instruction was English may satisfy the entry requirement. Bachelor of Speech Pathology: An overall IELTS of 7.0 (with a minimum writing score of 6.0; minimum speaking score of 8.0; minimum reading and listening score of 7.0). JCU will only accept IELTS test as evidence of English Language for the following programs: Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery, Bachelor of Nursing.
If you meet the academic requirements but not the English language entry requirement, you may be given a packaged Offer. This combines studying English at the JCU Pathway College or other approved provider, plus your offer of placement in a JCU academic program. This will allow you to get a student visa for the total length of your studies in Australia. For more information, please contact International Admissions by emailing [email protected].
Please note that the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) also has certain rules relating to student visas which, depending on the visa assessment level of your country of citizenship, may require you to sit an English test even though you meet other English language requirements set by JCU.
