Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences BACHELOR OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES The biomedical sciences are the foundation for the clinical practice of veterinary and human medicine. The course spans the study of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, pathology and epidemiology. Most subjects include a substantial practical component, drawing on JCU’s close links with local hospitals and private laboratories. Graduates find careers in diagnostic and research laboratories in the medical, veterinary, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food industries, as well as other health-related industries. Graduates majoring in Microbiology can apply for membership of the Australian Society for Microbiology. It takes a holistic approach to full physiological patient assessment and clinical skills, with training in mental as well as physical health.
