Panthers Going To State

By: Bret Baker

The 2013 Panther’s football season is heading into its last stretch of games, and the Panther's are headed to the state playoffs. The team opened the season with a 41-14 win against rival Towns County, and haven’t looked back since. Senior and defensive anchor Luther Jones told us that the win was “bitter sweet and it was awesome to start his last year with yet another win against Towns County.” Jones then told us that the win was the team’s first step of their journey to the state playoffs. At the beginning of November, the Panther’s completed their journey and clinched a spot in the state playoffs with a 47-6 victory against Social Circle. The Panther’s are now starting another journey, one that they hope will end in some playoff wins!

With a 6-4 record in the regular season, the Panther’s are looking to make some noise in the playoffs! Coach Brian Allison told us, “The team’s keys to success this season were cutting down on mental errors and stopping the big plays from opponents.” Coach also told us that Panther’s success takes a team effort. These efforts include the fans, so come and support our team and help propel them further into the playoffs! Good luck Panthers! We're all rooting for you!
