PRICE CENTER PLAZA HAS A WHOLE NEW LOOK . Built in 1989 , Price Center West , operated by University Centers at UC San Diego , serves as the central hub for community gathering , dining and services . The renovation is designed to better meet the needs of a

campus population that has now topped 42,000 undergraduates . It includes 7,000 square feet of an interior food court with common dining spaces , a sliding wall of windows that creates an indoor / outdoor zone , as well as an approximately 25,000-square-foot exterior plaza to offer an enhanced experience for today ’ s students .
The newly designed outdoor space embraces the near-perfect La Jolla climate and boasts colorful canopies , lights , heat lamps , Wi-Fi and a variety of seating options . Student feedback led the design , which provides a central space to better serve as a day or night impromptu gathering space , as well as a cozy venue for small or medium-sized outdoor events such as movie nights , singer-songwriter performances , outdoor meetings or just a place to chill with friends .
