1970
Roger Showley , Muir , received the 2022 Lambda Alpha International Journalist of the Year Award for his work in urban economics , real estate and development as real estate editor of The San Diego Union-Tribune . In 2018 , Showley retired after 44 years with the daily newspaper .
1979
Chris Cardiff , Revelle , launched the American Heritage Education Project , an educational nonprofit for homeschooling parents of 3 to 8-year-old children .
1981
Gila Safran- Naveh , PhD , professor of Judaic Studies , retired from the University of Cincinnati . During her 35-year career , she served as Department Head of Judaic Studies for 11 years and as Endowed Chair of the Jewish Foundation until her retirement .
1983
Thomas Guerrero , Marshall , joined the UC San Diego Department of Radiation Medicine as director of the Imperial Valley Radiation Oncology Center .
1984
Susan Gundelfinger Naslund , Warren , is the director of the Good Shepherd Ministry Center in El Cajon , Calif .
1987
Katherine P . Alioshin , Marshall , produced and directed Animation Outlaws , a documentary film about the influential duo behind La Jolla ’ s Spike and Mike ’ s Festival of Animation . The film is streaming on Amazon Prime .
Elisa Sobo , MA , PhD ’ 90 , is co-author of the book The Anthropology of Power , Agency , and Morality : The Enduring Legacy of F . G . Bailey , published by Manchester University Press . Sobo is a professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at San Diego State University .
1988
Jaime E . Lizárraga , Muir , will serve as a Commissioner of the U . S . Securities and Exchange Commission following unanimous confirmation by the Senate . Previously , Lizarraga was senior advisor to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi .
