Epstein Family Amphitheater
The much-anticipated 2,650 seat , openair Epstein Family Amphitheater will open in October 2022 . The amphitheater was made possible with a gift from Daniel and Phyllis Epstein . When not hosting a performance , the amphitheater will serve as a public , open space for recreation , celebration and connection .

Q & A with Aryeh Bourkoff ’ 95
Co-Chair , Campaign for UC San Diego Cabinet
Aryeh Bourkoff ’ 95 is founder and CEO of LionTree , an independent investment and merchant bank . Bourkoff , along with co-chair Ken Kroner , PhD ’ 88 , led the 100-plus-member Campaign for UC San Diego Cabinet ; more than half were alumni . Notably , each and every cabinet member donated to the Campaign , generating support totaling more than $ 1 billion . In recognition of Bourkoff ’ s firm ’ s $ 5 million gift to support scholar-athletes , RIMAC Arena was renamed LionTree Arena .
Why do you feel private support is so critical to the future of the campus ? LionTree ' s gift is an investment in UC San Diego ’ s impact , growth and potential . UC San Diego is home to many breakthroughs , and the Campaign has offered an opportunity for private partners to support and take part in the positive and far-reaching impact the university is having across all areas of society . This type of partnership creates a shared commitment in each other ' s success , maximizing outcomes and creating opportunities to work together in the future .
Why is it important to support UC San Diego Athletics and our scholar-athletes ? The college experience provides an important foundation to build meaningful , formative and influential relationships with others . UC San Diego ’ s transition to NCAA Division I will enhance the overall college experience , which will also strengthen the university ’ s brand and its ability to attract the world ’ s top scholar-athletes , students , faculty and research staff .
What changes have you seen at UC San Diego since your graduation ? UC San Diego has developed into a world-class research university in a very short period of time . It ’ s been amazing to witness . Building on that success in academia and research , UC San Diego has emerged as a global enterprise , while also staying focused on the local community . I couldn ' t be more proud of my alma mater .
