president’s column the EMPOWERED journey Architect Edric Marco C. Florentino, fuap National President from page 01 “I have competed well; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. Saint Paul said in 2Tim 4:7, and I quote, “I have competed well; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. Indeed, I strongly suggest that this administration with all its officers and members from the national level down to the chapter level have done what St Paul had said. I must confess that one of my great joys in life is to fly. Because, in flying, there is a great sense of sovereignty in soaring through the sky. You get different perspectives on different levels of horizon and with that you get to appreciate more what is at hand. In flying, there is a great sense of responsibility that goes with piloting a plane - concern for proper maintenance and safe operation, the comfort of your passengers, and being prepared for any eventualities that may come. In my inaugural address two years ago, I spoke about the flight path of my first administration. The flight path that I am referring to is the plans and programs for FY 2005-2006. They are all geared towards Empowerment. Thus we came up with a theme: “Empowerment to Meet the Challenges of the Filipino Architects”. The flight path was manageable and we flew with flying honors, if I may say so. At the end of the flight we got a 100% rating from the 10 year Long Range Plan Evaluation Committee, an independent body that evaluates the 10 performance of every administration base on the 10 YLRP. On my second term, this administration adopted the same theme and further enhanced our strategic actions to secure the success of each program which we have set for this Fiscal Year. profession as a whole. Looking on the parameter the 10-Year Long Range Plan, the 1st and 2nd year of implementation, I can proudly say that from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, our Organization and its general membership were empowered with vigor and passion “ We, therefore, need to rise to the challenge, to ensure that this organization becomes a great and empowered community of architects. ” This time we flew high because we were more empowered than before. We all believed that this administration has planned and implemented the projects and programs well. In preparing for my valedictory address tonight, I thought about the flight our organization has taken for the past two years. Both years were indeed good flights of opportunities that brought with it much responsibility for our organization. With the passage of the RA 9266, the crafting of the 10 Year Long Range Plan, the accomplishments of the previous administrations have brought many windows of opportunities for the professionals, for the professional organization, for the professional products and for the that made projects easier to implement. We flew high and we flew with grace even we encountered challenges along the way. We were able to manage these challenges because you and I were empowered. We were successful in unifying all our efforts in attaining our objectives
