June 2019 District B3 Turnover and Orientation Seminar Story by: Glee San S. Urbiztondo NAMPAP, UAP, GreenAP, IIEE Solid. Strong. Proud. These were how Ar. Len Marzo, outgoing UAP District B3 Director, described the recently concluded Turnover and Officers' Orientation Seminar which took place at the lush venue: My Father's House in Cabuyao, Laguna, last June 8, 2019. UAP Fort Bonifacio Chapter is the host for this year which saw 10 out of 13 UAP District B3 Chapters, from local and abroad, attend this annual gathering meant to build a strong camaraderie among District B3 chapters and to ensure readiness of their incoming officers for the next fiscal year: 2019-2020. Commencing at exactly 10:30 in the morning, B3 chapters present were UAP Alabang, UAP Cavite, UAP Fort Bonifacio, UAP Kuala Lumpur, UAP Las Piñas, UAP Makati, UAP Makati Greenbelt, UAP Makati Ayala Triangle, UAP Makati CBD, and UAP Parañaque Palanyag. Unable to attend were B3 chapters UAP Shanghai, UAP Guam, and UAP Brunei. The program was divided into three talks led by the incoming president of UAP Las Piñas Chapter, Ar. Anne Bayot whose topics were Leadership and Succession, Robert’s Rule of Order, and UAP Protocols. These were discussed in detail aided by visual presentations, witty examples, and sharing of relevant experiences. The first topic was about the Dos and Don’ts of effective leadership which was followed immediately by a Question and Answer portion. Attendees, however, had to take a break for lunch, before resuming the talk with Robert’s Rule of Order – a standard set of rules first published in 1876 by Henry M. Robert aimed to exercise orderly conduct in meetings with maximum fairness to all members. And to ensure effective transfer of knowledge, a meeting simulation was conducted wherein the rules had to be applied. There was fun among the participants who had to go through multiple challenges before finally simulating a meeting in an orderly way, as set forth in Robert’s Rule of Order. Last but not the least, the topic UAP Protocol showcased the rites and rituals and procedures desired to be observed within the UAP. This gave valuable insights among the incoming officers which is further explained on the UAP Document 107. After the talk was a Team Building activity just outside the main hall headed by UAP Ayala Triangle Chapter. Afterwards, everybody were treated with a sumptuous dinner signaling the start of fellowship night. Outgoing District Director Ar. Len Marzo gave a meaningful message to his charge of B3 Officers while presenting the accomplishments of District B3 for this fiscal year 2018-2019. Then came the opportunity to introduce incoming District B3 Director, Ar. Juz Santos of UAP Kuala Lumpur Chapter. This was followed by the sharing of personal messages and testimonials among B3 chapter presidents. The fellowship activity capped the day’s proceedings. B3 architects finally enjoyed a relaxing time together whether dipping in the pool, singing in the videoke, or simply meditating in the quiet and rustic atmosphere offered by the venue’s forest- like surroundings.
