As the world of health care changes and presents new challenges, we must continually adapt,
innovate, and improve the way we do things at UAB Medicine. Our ultimate goal is to become the
preferred Academic Medical Center of the 21st century, which is refl ected in our AMC21 strategic
plan that serves as a roadmap to get us there.

UAB Medicine to help us achieve our AMC21 goal. These pillar goals focus on:
QUALITY / Implement standards and systems to achieve the best results
ENGAGEMENT / Develop and strengthen relationships among patients, faculty, staff, and students
FINANCE / Attract and generate revenue, reduce costs, manage and invest wisely
ADVANCEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE / Create a culture that promotes innovation, sets the
highest educational standards, and expands funded research
