My name is Tracy Austin and I live in Menai Bridge. I work in Ysbyty Gwynedd doing RVS
tea bar and shop three times a week. I also volunteer in Tyddyn Môn on Tuesdays and
Môn FM on Saturday afternoons when I am not working. I go to ad lib in Menai Bridge,
which is a drama group every Saturday morning, I go to karate once a week at Bangor
normal college but I used to go on Wednesdays but unfortunately it is for beginners as I
am an orange belt now and on Tuesday evenings I got to brownies in Llanfairpwll and I am
a leader there. My brownie name is Snowy Owl. I am also learning to drive at the moment.
Karate Grading
By Tracy Austin
white, red, orange, yellow and green
were in the second half.
On the 4th of July, I went to Caernarfon
leisure centre with one of my friends who
lives in the same block of flats as me
because she was doing her grading for a
white belt. There were two karate groups
from the Arfon area taking part.
The grading started at 12:30pm and we
all had to sit down and wait for our
names to be called in our belt groups. I
was doing the grading for the red belt
which I had to do Heian Shodan Kata,
Kumite, which is partner work and drills
like Tudan, Jawdan, Agiyuke and
Shotokae.
In the beginning, we all had to do training
for two hours but we got spit up into two
groups-purple, purple/white and brown
belts did their training for the first half and
When the grading finished, I passed the
red belt grading and I have just gained
an orange belt and certificate.
College Achievement
For the last 12 months I have been in
college studying access to Higher

When it was our turn we lined up and I
got called up first because my name was
on the top of the list and I received a
mock certificate from one of the staff. We
all had a group photo with two of our
tutors.
On the 7th of July there was a
presentation in college for access learners
and we all had to sit together in our
groups while waiting for our groups to be
called up.
