JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: As Director of Development at VIPS, the first and only nonprofit in Kentucky and Indiana providing vision specific early childhood education to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who are blind or have low vision.
Tell us about your family... Outside of my professional work, I am a proud wife and mom. My husband, Collin Aycock, and I are raising our two daughters, Caroline, age two, and Catherine, four months old. Our home is also full of energy thanks to our two Australian Shepherds.
What do you do to unwind? My favorite place to unwind is at home at the end of a long day. When the kids are finally in bed and the bustle of the house quiets, I get a chance to breathe. I’ ll pour a glass of wine and sit down with my best friend, my husband, to talk about our day.
Where would we find your books in an app or on a shelf? They’ re in my browser tabs! I’ m a proud digital reader. Give me a short article, a quick deep dive, or a random Google rabbit hole and I’ m happy. The news is a frequent stop, but so is whatever topic catches my attention that day. Leadership trends, WebMD.
What is your favorite movie? Couples Retreat is my favorite movie because of its star-studded cast, top-notch comedy, and ridiculous moments throughout the movie. Even though it’ s not a classic, it’ s a classic to me!
The United States is.... A place where people come together to help one another, whether it’ s neighbors supporting each other, communities rallying for a cause, or nonprofits stepping in to fill gaps and make a real difference. It’ s a country built not just on opportunity, but on the idea that we are stronger when we lift each other up and invest in the well-being of those around us.
What is your motto?“ Progress, not perfection.” For me, it’ s so easy to get caught up striving for perfection and then feel defeated if things aren’ t 100 % perfect. I remind myself, both in my
