Tell us about your family: I was raised in Southern Indiana alongside my brother, Oliver, by my mom who gave up her career to devote her lives to us. She is an invaluable part of my family, just as my dad, who continues to help the community in his work as a nurse.
What do you do to unwind? My favorite places to unwind are anywhere with good food or drinks, conversation, and cool people. That usually translates to coffee shops, bars, or restaurants. I feel at home around the service industry, whether I’ m working or relaxing. The goal of the industry is to make people happy, and that’ s a goal I’ m happy to be a part of.
Where would we find your books... in an app or on a shelf? My books are everywhere- in my backpack, in my car, on my shelves, at Bloom, and on every device I own. Tell us about your family: My foundation is rooted in the courage of my father, who immigrated from Mexico to build a better life. Though I am grieving his recent passing just last week, his legacy of hard work remains the heartbeat of my ambition. Today, my world is centered around my older sister, Michelle, and her family, as well as my life and business partner, Ivan. Together, we carry forward the values of family and perseverance that my father instilled in us.
What do you do to unwind? Unsurprisingly, my favorite place to unwind has always been coffee shops. Throughout my undergraduate career, these spaces were my sanctuary. They were where I felt most at home, day or night. Coffee shops are a place for others to feel welcome, included, and safe. That deep, personal connection to coffee culture is what made opening Bloom Coffee so vital to me. It wasn’ t just a business move, but a mission to build a space where others could find that same sense of peace and focus. It’ s beautiful being able to turn your lifelong passion into a community-focused reality where work feels like giving
