that and ensuring that the global community we are visiting with leaves with more than just gorgeous views of Chapman’ s Peak and Table Mountain. Together with the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative, the farther reach is to raise enough money to build a track in Mitchells Plain that will inspire many more feet long after we are gone.
As with all your Escape journeys, you’ re finishing with a marathon victory lap. For this journey, it’ ll be the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon. What’ s the thinking behind finishing with an event – and why did you decide on Two Oceans? Our Escape ethos is:“ One finish line is never enough!”
So, two days after running collectively from Gqeberha to Cape Town, many of the Escape Crew will be running the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Ultra( myself included). Some will run the Half Marathon, and some will cheer on the sidelines eating koeksisters. Two Oceans has always been a bucket-list race of mine. My mom was born in Cape Town, and I still have a lot of family in and around the Cape. The moment I learned that there was a race that weaved along Chapman’ s Peak it was just a matter of time. Chapman’ s Peak to me is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I’ m delighted to share it in a special way with so many of our friends from all over the world.
Escape Crew runners each do segments of about 10km at a time, completing between 100 – 150km over the course of 3 – 4 days, plus spend time on the roadside cheering on team mates.
