Half BNC Going for Her Ultra Blue in 2027

Remarkably, there is one runner who, with 11 medals in the Half Marathon, has been setting herself the challenge of working up to her Blue Number in the Ultra! Lynn Etheridge started with her Ultra Marathon quest in 2007, switching it up to continue her Half Marathon voyages in between, and has since gone on to exclusively enter and medal in the Ultra since 2018 – with a Long Trail run thrown in for good measure in between!
‘ Upgrading’ to tackle what is considered to be the more difficult permanent number in the Ultra Marathon is no small feat – and the fact that( so far) she’ s alone in this niche category this year, proves that point. But when it comes to Etheridge, it seems the Half was just the warm-up. Remarkable!

Most Trail Run Voyages

After 13 editions of the Two Oceans Trail Runs( 2010-2019, 2022 and 2025-2026), just 10 runners have earned a permanent Khaki Number in this event. The first two were awarded to three-time winners Landie Greyling and Kane Reilly, while the rest were all awarded after runners completed their 10th Trail Run. However, only one runner, Dominic Wills, can lay claim to earning a‘ full house’ of 13 medals.
As mentioned earlier, Norrie Williamson is the only athlete in the entire Ship’ s Log with three permanent numbers, having added his Khaki Number to his Blue and Light Blue Numbers in 2025. This coming year, Afzal Dhansay will become just the second runner to pull off this incredible feat, if he can add one more Trail Run medal to his haul.
