enjoyed the resort , the town , and the fantastic food . Ron and I cherished our week there and returned with our kids , and again with our son , daughter , and son-in-law .
Our next visit included all of us , plus our toddler grandson , my sister ( celebrating her 80th birthday ), niece , nephew , and his husband . Our family ’ s last visit was after Ron had passed away .
A significant takeaway was to buy a place you can travel to without having to change planes and deal with customs multiple times . Also , the cost of the allinclusive fees was rising higher than the maintenance fees .
Flexible credits : WorldMark by Wyndham
In the early 2000s , Ron and I bought our first credits in WorldMark by Wyndham — at that time , it was WorldMark by Trendwest . We liked the flexibility of the credit system because we could often get away for just a few days , and there were several WorldMark resorts in CA that were within an hour or so of our home . We added to our credits a couple of times , and I still use them for vacations with family and friends .

Challenges and reflections
Around 2008 , we tried to sell our various weeks but had no luck . One of the weakest points of timeshare ownership used to be the lack of a good secondary market . We ended up deeding our Mexican week back to the resort and giving away our other two resorts .
Even though we couldn ’ t resell our weeks , we still feel that we certainly got more than their value in our wonderful exchanges and experiences . The purchases were a great investment in vacation experiences and fun with each other , family , and friends .
