Anthony ( Tony ) John Patrick Ayres ( Co Ro , 69-2009 ); died 26.7.2024 . Brigg GS . Open Scholar and State Scholar , Brasenose College Oxford 1963-6 , 2 ( 1 ) Physics , MA . Assistant master Canford School 1966-9 . Physics don Win Coll 1969-2007 and part-time 2008-9 ; Head of Physics ; Head of Science ; Furley ’ s House Tutor for many years ; Chapel Choir ; occasional Deputy Lay Clerk in Cathedral ; Violin in Orchestra ; founded Cantores Episcopi and College Hall Mince Pie concerts ; i / c Printing Soc ; CCF RAF section ; coordinator Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme ; Dyson 100 running ; Chapel Bell Ringer ; Stage Manager and then Producer of the major opera productions , multiple House and School plays in QEII ; sang for many years in the Nave Choir at the Edington Festival ; co-director of Winchester Operatic Society ; part-time teaching Portsmouth GS 2006-7 and lately at Midhurst Rother . Charles Edward Cresswell Woolley ( F , 40-45 ); died 26.5.2024 . Brother of DHW . Co Prae ; Nat Hist Prize . 2 Lt South Wales Borderers 1947 . Queens ’ College Cambridge 1949 , Agric , BA 1951 . Farming in Sussex 1951-71 . College of Law , Guildford and London , 1972- 6 ; solicitor 1976-99 . He became deeply involved in Sussex village life , serving as a member of the local shoot , a tenor in the highly regarded choir , a prime mover in fundraising and building a new village hall and as director of the village pantomime . In later life , he moved to the Gers in Southern France and became embedded in a wonderful , welcoming local community , He married ( 1 ) Joy Newgass in 1951 ( marriage dissolved 1982 ); and ( 2 ) 1984 Marion Bull , who survives him together with his 4 sons .

Cape Golf Club until aged 90 . One hole in one . Shot his age at 85 . He married Jill Wilmot in 1962 , who survives him together with their son and daughter .

He worked as an insurance broker : Hogg , Robinson & Capel-Cure 1953 , USA 1955-7 , director 1965 ; Hogg , Robinson & Gardner Mountain , director 1969 ; Price Forbes & Co and Sedgwick Group , director 1970-87 . Voluntary work for the Redundant Churches Fund , later The Churches Conservation Trust 1989- 97 . His interests and hobbies also included genealogy , opera and classical music and reading . He married ( 1 ) Penelope Winch in 1955 , who died in 1982 ; ( 2 ) Rosemary Neville Smith in 1985 ; and ( 3 ) Francesca Head in 1993 , who survives him together with 3 daughters from his first marriage and a stepdaughter from his third marriage .
Henry Claude Strathern Evill ( I , 44-49 ); died 25.5.2024 . Brother of WASE . French Speech , French and German Prizes . 2Lt RB 1950 . Scholar New College Oxford 1951 , 3 Hist 1954 . An inveterate and ceaselessly curious traveller , he spent two years building basic community schools in remoter parts of East Africa before accepting a position with Anglo-Dutch Shell that took him for several years to Central America , primarily in Nicaragua and Venezuela . Returning to the UK in the early 1960s , he worked for the Bank of London and South America and ended with retirement from stockbroker Hoare Govett at the end of the 1970s to take up charity management in the West Country . Travel remained a constant hobby , with walking trips overseas and in the UK a central feature of life until he reached his eighties . He married Irene Moncrieff in 1962 ( marriage dissolved 1982 ) and is survived by 2 daughters and a son .
