No . 138 The Trusty Servant
OW Tolling Henry Morris ( Coll , 85-90 ) writes :
Over the weekend of 15 th -16 th June this year I completed the Category D Ultra-marathon ‘ Rat Race The Wall ’, 70 miles or 115 kms from Carlisle to Newcastle , approximately following the course of Hadrian ’ s Wall . This differs from tolling at school in that a backpack of compulsory items must be carried . Time taken : 20 hours 58 mins 25 secs ,
finishing 575 th out of 1175 entrants .
This gives closure to my retirement last year at 60 miles / 97 kms . I now have 3 finisher ’ s medals from 4 starts and I ’ m quite sure I will never put myself through this again !
At this point I am 6hrs 22 mins and approximately 27 miles into the event .

Chapel Choir Soc Reunion 5 th October 2024
Yang Wern Ooi ( Coll , 81-85 ; CoRo , 010- 03 ) writes :
OW Chapel Choir Soc gathered once again in the ancient church of St Bartholomew the Great in the heart of the City of London on 5 th October . This was our second Evensong in London , our fourth in total so far .
Tom Jesty ( Q , 99-05 ; H , 05-10 ) led us through the rehearsal in his calm and gentle way , moulding our voices to fill the space with a beautiful sound . As has become customary , we were led by our wonderful soprano guests , some of whom were girl choristers from Winchester Cathedral .
Too many to mention ! Chapel Choir Soc with Headmaster and Revd Justin White at the foot of College Hall steps
The service opened with Stanford ’ s serene Beati quorum via , after which we were roused by Noble ’ s Magnificat in B minor . The singing closed with Brahms ’ s truly spiritual Geistliches Lied . The Revd . Justin White ( CoRo , 06-14 & 18-22 ), our preacher in residence , remembered the late Tony Ayres ( CoRo , 69-09 ), our Treasurer and Librarian , finding certain parallels with St Francis of Assisi , whose feast day had fallen the day before .
The Society has truly come of age and is always open to new members . If you did not sing in Chapel Choir , you and your guests are very welcome at our services and to join us for drinks and dinner .
