Saving Paper This magazine is compiled and delivered twice yearly . Some copies don ’ t reach their destination and are returned to us . Others do reach their destination but are neglected . To save the paper involved in these copies , please let the office know if you are happy to be sent a link or notification that the Trusty Servant has been published online . The next mailing list will be compiled in April 2024 .
War Cloister Centenary You will by now be aware that War Cloister is approaching its Centenary in 2024 . By the time you read this , we will have announced the fundraising campaign in support of the Centenary Conservation project . Supporters of this campaign and relatives of the Fallen will be invited to the Centenary Commemoration , being held in Winchester on 15 th June 2024 . We are aware of many relatives already , but if you are in doubt that we know of your connection with War Cloister , please contact this office .
Access Finally , the changing face of security and in particular , the tightened rules around safeguarding pupils , have led to revised rules for visitors to the College . Please take a moment to read the Visiting Win Coll statement on the back page . Unfortunately , this means that the previously soft arrangement , whereby Old Wykehamists can visit the College at a time of their choosing and walk around unaccompanied have come to an end . As the sign in the Porters ’ Lodge now says , ‘ Escorted Access Only ’.
Some Events to look forward to . ( See Dates for Your Diary for a full list of events . These can all be booked through our website , which will offer more detail .)
Wykehamists in Wipers ( note change of date ) We are planning a trip to Ypres and Northern France 31 st May – 3 rd June 2024 . Mike Wallis ( CoRo , 86-20 ) will lead the trip , nudged occasionally by Christopher Normand , Director of Win Coll Soc . The purpose of the trip is twofold :
to mark the Centenary of the College ’ s War Cloister and to connect Winchester ’ s commemoration to the Western Front Way
Thank you to all those who have already indicated their interest . There are a very few spaces remaining if anyone else would like to register their interest . A rough itinerary and pricing will be issued before the end of term . Deposits will need to be paid soon thereafter .
