OW Hong Kong Guild Medics News
Keith Hariman ( B , 01-06 ) writes : During the summer the OW Hong Kong Guild organised a gathering of the medics based in Hong Kong . The group included : currently practicing doctors , from the public , private and university sectors ; current medical students studying at various universities ; as well as current students aspiring to study medicine at university . The students received suggestions and guidance on how to apply for medicine in university , how to choose which university to apply to and practical tips for the interview process and composition of the personal statement . It was well attended by more than 20 current and old Wykehamists , as well as parents who wanted to learn more about how to support the students . The Guild hopes to organise more such meet-ups , assembling current and old Wykehamists from different geographical regions and professions , strengthening the connections with the alumni and offering mentorship and internship opportunities .
Last season saw some of the club ’ s stalwarts move into their next phase of life and from the early signs of this season , the future is very bright . Our 4 games so far have seen 4 newcomers win Man of the Match : Charlie Barnes ( I , 15-20 ) vs Tonbridge ; Freddie Van Every ( A , 18-23 ) vs Malvern ; Will Whitehead ( A , 18-23 ) vs Radley & Fergus Brant ( B , 18-23 ).
Despite the injection of youth , we are yet to register our first win of the season but we know it is just around the corner and by the time you read this we will ( hopefully ) have a win to our name .
Our first game of the year , against Tonbridge , was an early test to see how the new look OW side performed . After a tense first 10 minutes , the OWs took the lead through Kahan Shirvani ( K , 12-17 )
