Winchester College Online : the launch of CATALYST
CATALYST ’ s founding pilot programme was a great success , with 36 pupils from more than 10 different countries participating . The innovative digital environment , the unique educational content , the diverse composition of the cohort , and the high levels of interactivity and engagement all exceeded even the highest expectations .
CATALYST is a Winchester Collegeled initiative that offers global , immersive , digital programmes that draw on Winchester ’ s unique expertise and resources . It asks pupils aged 14-18 to tackle one of the most important topics of our time that rarely gets the attention in secondary schools that it deserves : how one can effect change . The programme explores the risks and opportunities for a global society by challenging students with questions like , how has society been changed by technology ? How do our relationships with others shape the change we bring about in the world ? What does ‘ change ’ even really mean ?
The S22 pupils ’ responses to these questions culminated with their individual Change Project Proposals , all of which were a natural highlight of the programme . Proposals ranged from reforming the healthcare system in Nigeria , to being an ambassador for greater involvement of women in STEM , to changing the ‘ right to repair ’ in the UK and fixing the industry of obsolescence . CATALYST ’ s aim was to unleash the talents of the next generation of conscious , connected global leaders .
Building on this year ’ s programme , the CATALYST team is looking forward to widening the digital doors even further next year . Applications for 2023 are now open and the team are excited to meet prospective pupils and parents from all over the world .
