Mark Adlington ( G , 78-83 ) has published two books of paintings , but has hitherto been overlooked by the Trusty Servant . When the Unicorn Publishing Group offered Adlington the chance to publish his first monograph , the artist had just been on a spectacular expedition to Svalbard ; Painting the Ice Bear was born . The collection of Polar Bear Work , from the simplest of line drawings to large scale oil paintings , explores the life of this apex predator both above and below the water , becoming a book as much about the artistic process as an investigation of the great white bear itself .
LION , which was published in 2020 , follows the artist to Africa , where he was lucky enough to spend great quantities of time with the king of beasts during six separate journeys to Namibia and Kenya . Hunting , stalking , mothering , resting - the pages are rich with the heat of Africa and the muscled languor and energy of these most charismatic and social of big cats .
