He ran 10 Marathons , as well as the Hawaiian Iron Man World Triathlon Championships in 1982 , where he finished in 11 hours 36 minutes – a remarkable time for someone aged 44 . He had a flair for making loyal and lasting friendships : towards the end of his life and in spite of his debilitating health he never grumbled nor complained . He married ( 1 ) Brigitta Cooper ( marriage dissolved 1967 ); ( 2 ) Ellie Grant in 1969 ( marriage dissolved 1973 ). He is survived by his daughter from the first marriage .
Robert ( Bob ) Stephen Mayo ( K , 52- 57 ); died 23.12.2020 . Great nephew of CM ( Coll , 1848 ). New College Oxford 1958-60 & 1961-2 , 2 Mod Lang BA 1962 ; Indiana University , German , MA 1964 , PhD 1967 . Assistant professor of German and Comparative Literature , University of North Carolina 1967-72 ; teacher of Humanities , Champlain Regional College , St Lambert , Quebec 1972-2005 . Throughout his life he continued to value the intellectual grounding that Win Coll provided , encouraging his own students to develop their capacity for critical thinking for themselves . Until he suffered a stroke in 2013 , he was an enthusiastic amateur sportsman , enjoying running , cycling and golf and also had a love of classical music . More latterly , he continued to lead a full intellectual and social life in the company of his family and friends . They adored him for his kindness and humanity as well as for the stimulation of his company . He married Lannie Royce Whiteman in 1968 , who survives him together with their son .
Nicholas John Cunliffe-Lister , 3rd Earl of Swinton ( G , 52-57 ); died 21.3.2021 . Son of JYC-L , brother of DYC-L , father of MWPC-L and SCC-L , 3rd generation of Wykehamists , father to son . 2nd Lt , Welsh Guards 1957-9 ; Worcester College , Oxford , 2 Law , BA 1962 . He practised as a solicitor from 1966 , ultimately with Murray Hills , Bridlington . He represented his ancestral home of Masham for 17 years as Conservative Councillor on Harrogate Borough Council ; Clerk , Masham Parish Council and then Sledmere Parish Council . He was a very keen fisherman , Chairman of the Masham Angling Club , and a supporter of the West of Yore Hunt , to which he rode regularly ; he was also a fine shot , although he loved beating just as much as he got paid for it ! A very domesticated man , he insisted upon doing most of the housework , and always had a great sense of humour . He succeeded his brother as 3rd Earl in 2006 . He married ( 1 ) Hon Susan Whitelaw , daughter of Viscount Whitelaw in 1966 ( marriage dissolved ); ( 2 ) Pamela Sykes in 1996 , who survives him together with a daughter and 2 sons from his first marriage and 2 stepdaughters and a stepson .
Anthony ( Tony ) Stapylton Robinson ( H , 53-57 ); died 3.1.2021 . Shuttleworth Agricultural College 1959-61 , Nat Dip Agric ( 2 Cl ), Coll Dip Agric ( 1st cl ). He first worked in Australia before returning to a big farming and seed growing enterprise in Hampshire .
He then became a farm contractor in Dorset managing the farming enterprise at Sherborne Castle Estates , which he skillfully brought back into profitability , and in 2000 took on the tenancy of Manor Farm , Thornford . His outspoken thinking , often much to the left of his fellow farmers , brought him the nickname locally of “ Red Robbo ”. He was , however , classless and wise , relishing the intellectual challenge of arguing as a devil ’ s advocate , a role surely learned at Win Coll . Known for his enthusiastic hospitality , he is remembered too for his loyalty and total integrity and was keen to encourage the young in becoming involved in farming . He married Amanda Thorne in 1998 ( marriage dissolved 2010 ), who survives him , together with their son and daughter .

Non-executive director , Portland Port Limited since 1994 and Portland Harbour Authority Ltd since 1997 , converting it into a thriving commercial port and sailing venue for the 2012 Olympics .
