Robert( Robin) Trench Fox( A, 50-55; GoBo, 96-11; Sub-Warden 2003-11); died 25.12.2024. Co Prae, Duncan Maths Prize, Pres, Sailing Club. Temporary Acting S / Lt RNVR and Navigating officer on the first ship into Port Said in the Suez Campaign. Scholar, University College Oxford 1957-61, 3 Chem & PPE. Kleinwort Benson Group 1961, Director 1972, Vice-Chairman 1986-2000. Chairman: Executive Committee British Bankers’ Association 1992-4; Export Guarantees Advisory Council 1992-8; Centrobank, Vienna 1997-2001; Whiteaway Laidlaw Bank 1992-2008; Lombard Risk Consultants; Anglo-Sino Capital Partners Ltd. Member, Deposit Protection Board 1989-95; Council, University College, London 1988-2004; Private Finance Panel 1996-7. Chairman, Advisory Panel, Cass Business School; Board member, Royal National Theatre Foundation; Chairman, London Advisory Board Westpac Banking Corporation. In his spare time, he enjoyed logic puzzles, travel and wine. He married Lindsay Anderson in 1962, who survives him together with 2 daughters and 2 sons.
John Martin Gregory( CoRo, 62-99); died 28.1.2025. Father of PMG. Scholar Wadham College Oxford 1954-61, 2( 1) Physics, BA 1957, MA, DPhil 1961. Science Editor, Methuen & Co( Publishers) 1961-2. Head of Physics, 1969-85. Author of Alternating Currents 1971, A Practical Approach to Systems Electronics 1985 and numerous articles in scientific and technical journals. He married Jennifer Byrne in 1963 and is survived by their son and daughter.
Jennifer Margaret Gregory( CoRo, 69- 99); died 10.9.2024. Mother of PMG. Exhibitioner Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford 1957-63, 1 Zool, BA 1960, MA, DPhil 1964. Head of Biology 1978-88, acting Head of Science 1988. The first full time female science don. She married John Martin Gregory in 1963 and is survived by their son and daughter.

Richard Wycliffe Murray( Coll, 38- 43); died 14.7.2021. Brother of JHM and ADM. Cap Prae, Aul Prae, School Exhibition, VIII 1941( cox), 1943. Sub- Lt RNVR 1944; Home Fleet; RNAS, East Indies, 1945 where he worked on HMS Glory directing Naval fighters to intercept enemy aircraft. Scholar New College Oxford, 1 Zool 1949, MA 1951; OU Yachting 1950. He represented UK in European single-handed dinghy sailing championships 1954, 1956, 1958. DPhil 1953; DSc( Birmingham) 1967; Department of Zoology and Comparative Physiology, University of Birmingham, Lecturer 1952, Senior Lecturer 1966-85. Author of research papers on Sensory Physiology and Test Your Understanding of Neurophysiology 1983; retired 1983. He had a huge wealth of knowledge – not only of the sciences, but for history, philosophy and classical literature. A quiet man with a wonderful sense of humour and a very quick mind. He married Brenda Manly in 1963.
Sir David Berriman( F, 42-46); died 13.3.2025. New College, Oxford. Lawn Tennis for Oxfordshire. Hon Sec Oxford University Lawn Tennis; Hon Mods in Natural Science. Diploma in Economics and Natural Science Program for Management Development, Harvard Business School. After National Service with the Royal Signals in Egypt, he joined Citibank and served in London & Far East. Then moved to Ford Motor Company, followed by three years with AEI Hotpoint. In 1963 he became Chief Executive of an equipment leasing company taken over by Morgan Grenfell, where he became Partner 1964-73. He moved to Guinness Mahon as Chief Executive 1973-87. Founding Chairman of Sky Television before being taken over by News International. Nonexecutive director of many companies, including Cable and Wireless 1975-88 and Britannia Building Society 1983- 93. Founded MacIntyre in 1978, a leading charity for those with learning difficulties. Chairman, Guy’ s Hospital and then Northeast Thames Regional Health Authority 1981-1990. Knight Batchelor 1990. Chairman, Association of Lloyds Members 1994-98, responsible for negotiating settlement agreement on behalf of Names caught up in massive losses from asbestos and pollution claims. Founding Trustee and Deputy Chairman, Kent Community Housing Trust managing 20 homes in the Southeast. He married( 1), Margaret Owen in 1955, marriage dissolved 1970;( 2) Shirley Wright in 1971, who died in 1993;( 3) Patricia Salter in 1995, who died in 2013; and( 4) Caryl Ayscough in 2014, who survives him, together with his 2 sons and 9 stepchildren. Michael( Mike) John Clay( B, 43-47); died 26.2.2025. 3rd generation of Wykehamists, father to son; son of JCC, brother of GHCC. 2 Lt RWF 1948, BAOR. ACA 1957, FCA 1962 with March & Sons, Cardiff and then Singer and Partners, before setting up Clay Shaw Thomas, and was Chairman of the Institute for Chartered Accountants in Wales. He retired in 1994. High Sheriff of South Glamorgan 1991; trustee of St John’ s Ambulance( South Wales); trustee of Sir Thomas Mansell Franklen Trust; governor of Cowbridge School and member, Llandaff Diocesan Board of Finance.
