Selected for UK team at X International Maths Olympiad, Moscow 1968, silver medal. Peat Marwick Mitchell 1973-8, ICAEW gold medal 1977. Birkbeck College MSc Nuclear Physics 1978-9. HM Treasury 1979-81. He worked for Morgan Grenfell 1982-4, Thorn EMI 1984-5 and then as a finance consultant before moving across into banking and fintech start-ups, latterly advising Imperial College. He remained academically active all his life and compiled a website of all the IMO problems, which has been helpful globally as his own experience continued to encourage others: he continued to enjoy an elegant equation until the end. He also gave pro bono tuition for gifted young neurodiverse students. He wrote Discover Maths 1: Induction 2013 and Discover Maths 2: Basic Structures 2014. He also privately studied Divinity, having converted to Catholicism aged 20, and was extremely fond of the music of Tom Lehrer. He married Margaret Dorothy Chiverton in 1979.

He farmed beef, sheep and venison and was on a number of boards, including that of the Maxim Institute, a conservative political think tank. He studied in detail interdenominational divides, particularly those between the Latin Western and the Greek Eastern churches. He wrote The Lion the Dove and the Lamb- Exploring the Nature of the Christian God as Trinity 2015 and God’ s Address- Living with the Triune God 2017. He married Cathy Turner in 1977, who survives him together with their 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Timothy( Tim) William Boyre Brentnall( H, 68-73); died 20.6.2025. Fishing Soc. Articled clerk Elborne Mitchell 1974, Solicitor 1979, Partner 1982, Senior Partner 2000 until his death. Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, 1993. In 1982 he was seconded to a major California law firm, where he gained first-hand experience of U. S. trial procedures, and by the time he returned to London he had become a fully formed litigation lawyer. Over the following years he had a major role in many of the large London Market disputes, in particular the collapses of the International Tin Council and of Barings Bank. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he became the go-to lawyer for advice necessary to avoid unintended breaches of sanctions. Clients were highly valued, and their interests were an absolutely priority: they trusted him with cases involving huge complexity and vast sums of money. He was a fine sailor and was an enthusiast for all country sports. He married Arabella, who survives him together with their son and daughter.

Head of the Lent Bumps, Downing College Cambridge 1987. Fellow of Royal College of Anaesthetists; Founding Fellow, Faculty of Pain Medicine; Primary FRCA Examiner
Royal College of Anaesthetists for 12 years; Resident Fellow, University of Toronto Hospital, 1998-9; Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist, Great Ormond St Hospital 1999, Head of department for 4 years and clinical lead for a group of 50 Consultants. President of the Association of Anaesthetists. He published 40 peer reviewed papers and lectured across the globe. Retired 2023. GB Triathlete placed 5th in age group, European Championships, 2010. He married Cathy Penney in 1983, who survives him together with their 2 sons.
Jaymeen Pravinchandra Patel( Coll, 90-95); died 10.9.2025 tragically in a cycling accident in Brussels. Exeter College Oxford 1995- 9 BA Modern Languages, German and Italian. MEP assistant European Parliament 1999-2001; Policy Advisor, Confederation of British Industry 2001-6; European Regulatory Manager Telefonica 2006-11; Government Affairs Manager LVMH 2011-22; Head of EU Digital Public Policy, Amazon, in Brussels 2022. A champion Ultimate Frisbee player all over Europe and coach for the World Club Championships in Prague 2010. A loyal friend who stood by those he loved, and a man who embraced life fully.“ He radiated positive energy to everyone around him. Beyond his love for bringing people together and creating joyful moments, I always admired his open-minded spirit and insightful perspective on so many aspects of life. Speaking with him was always enriching.” He married Krisztina Baracsi, who survives him together with their son and daughter.
