Keys to a successful Junior Program
. Keep things fun with variety . Young golfers need a mixture of activities to keep clinics and camps fresh and exciting . These activities don ’ t always need to use clubs and golf balls . Activities that emphasize hand-eye coordination , balance or athletic movements help all young golfers .
. Get on the golf course ! The golf course is where the game comes alive for new and young golfers . Find opportunities in your camps and clinics to fit in time to play a hole or 2 along with skill stations on the range and putting green .
. Hire the right help and make sure you have enough of it . Give the kids the opportunity to have enough one-on-one attention . Your teaching team is a huge factor in the success of your program . Make sure they have the needed energy , patience , and love for teaching youth . The team will create a fun atmosphere that parents and kids will love to be around .
. Junior golfers love competition . Mix in different fun skill competitions with inexpensive prizes like candy or golf balls . Make sure competitions are catered to different skill levels and ages .
. Prepare . Live by the quote “ Before anything else , preparation is the key to success ”. Don ’ t wing it , parents and kids will know ! Communicate agenda and goals beforehand to all kids and parents . Make sure the teaching team has clear systems for instruction . Prepare for kids of different ages , skill levels , and with emotional and physical needs .
