Since 2016 , her evenings and weekends are devoted to sending medical supplies to war-torn Syria as part of the nonprofit she and her husband founded , Save the Syrian Children . “ We could either act in accordance with our stated values or shrink from that responsibility ,” she says . “ We chose to act .”
