Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Sea is Connecticut’s
highest-rated tourist destination. Located just off of Interstate 95
along the banks of the historical Mystic River and close to beautiful
downtown Mystic, the museum’s 19 acres are brimming with things
to do and worlds to explore.
Mystic Seaport was founded in 1929 to preserve the nation’s
maritime history, and it’s now the home port to four National Historic
Landmark vessels: the 1841 wooden whale ship Charles W. Morgan,
the 1908 steamboat Sabino, the 1921 schooner L.A. Dunton and the
1866 New England fishing boat Emma C. Berry.
“Visitors can climb aboard and imagine what life was like when
a sailor’s journey on a wooden whaling ship lasted three years or
more,” sa
