Midwifery Training Event W e hosted a lunchtime training session featuring the EBSCO database CINAHL Plus with full-text on Wednesday, February 20th. Richar d Crookes of EBSCO delivered the training which ran from noon to 2pm. These drop-in sessions are designed to facilitate access to effective search techniques using the CINAHL database. They act as a refresher for the regular searcher and as an introductory session for midwifery and nursing staff and students. Other search techniques focused on database facilities like how to share a folder and limiting searches to UK and Irish based articles. Sharing folders allows the user to add articles to a personal folder and to share them with other EBSCOHost users, such as their colleagues. There are three folders provided for this purpose: • My Folder - which holds items you have collected during a current session • My Custom - allows the user to create custom folders and move items into them. This folder can then be shared with other users, if desired • Shared by - are shared folders that another user creates and shares with you Searches must be run on EBSCOHost and one or more articles must be saved to a personal folder you have previously created. Other users are thereby invited by email to share that folder. Folders may undergo an un-sharing process when this facility is no longer necessary. Finding UK and Irish Articles is a new feature which has been made available to CINAHL users. It is available by searching in two ways. Performing a CINAHL Heading search, using geographic locations combined with the Boolean Operator AND. Or by combining CINAHL Headings for each country and a journal subset limiter for UK & Ireland. Despite the constraints of work schedules, a representative cohort of nursing and midwifery staff and students attended this training. Our thanks goes to their supervisors and colleagues who facilitated their absence. Anne O’Byrne
